Shauna

Shauna came to the Communities for Work Team and was very unsure at the start, especially having children as she never thought she could do it.

Her mentor worked with her and it was evident that she was a very caring young woman.

She was informed of the academy's Care Pathway which she was very unsure about at the start but with support and encouragement, she passed the pathway with flying colours.

As a result of this, she found confidence in her learning abilities and after speaking with her mentor she told her that she had always wanted to work with Children but never thought she could do it. Her mentor supported her in speaking with the local college and as a result, she is now enrolled on a level 2 childcare course.

Her mentor is continuing to support her with her CV and searching for part-time roles that will assist her learning when in college. This young woman of 19 has grown so much in the short time that the mentor has worked with her and continues to grow in confidence.
